About

We help you compost, not buy a machine.

BlackGold Kitchen is an independent editorial guide to practical household composting. We're not a storefront, and we don't push one solution — our job is to help you find the method that actually fits your kitchen, your building, and your schedule.

Why This Site Exists

Most composting advice assumes you have a yard

Most composting content online is written for people with a backyard, plenty of storage, and time to manage a pile. That leaves out apartment dwellers, renters, people with limited mobility, and anyone who just wants to stop throwing food in the trash without becoming a hobbyist. We started BlackGold Kitchen to cover the full range of realistic options — backyard bins, worm bins, municipal collection, indoor systems, and electric countertop composters — and to be honest about the tradeoffs of each.

How We Cover Products

We are not a lab, and we don't pretend to be

Our electric composter comparisons are built from publicly available listing data — seller specs, pricing, and customer-reported experience — not independent lab testing. We say so directly on every comparison page and flag which claims are the seller's, not ours. See our testing methodology for the full picture of what we do and don't verify.

How We Make Money

Affiliate links, disclosed plainly

Some links to products on this site are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. This never determines which methods we recommend first — free or low-cost options like backyard bins, worm bins, and municipal drop-off are covered with the same weight as anything we could earn a commission on.
